Wood Calls
Posted on
What is the best wood for duck calls? For us we build duck calls from two primary woods, Cocobolo and Hedge. They are the best for duck calls. Cocobolo vs. Hedge Cocobolo, I'm just going to say it. It is the best wood mother nature has created for call making. It has killer looks and sounds amazing. It has earned the title as the iconic wood sound in many of our minds sound files. I wish it grew in the states.Hedge, is a great wood for calls. Softer sounding than Cocobolo. In fact nothing sounds like hedge other than hedge. It's mellow and deep and the hedge we build calls from is USA grown. We shy away from clear coat. Clear...
The new LT Mammoth Cut

The all new LT Mammoth Cut What is it and why did we add a call to our line up? Tribe you know we take adding a call to our very seriously. New calls have to serve a purpose and not fall under the newest thing cause we thought we needed to. If we add a call to the line up you can bet the farm that it has a very well thought out purpose and we think it will benefit our Tribe members. On to the new call. We know many of you like the deep boss hen that up until now only comes from the old cut down style calls. We get it, we like that as well,...
How to tune your duck call

Having a duck call tuned to fit you is crucial. A call tuned to fit you will perform better, sound better and make you a better hunter. The tuning tang is designed to fit in the tone channel and locks the reed in place keeping it centered. The engraving lets you know the reed orientation, reed length and style. Tuned engraving up the...

The word "custom" gets thrown around a lot these days. To some it means very little. To others it means a great deal more, much more. To us, custom is a way of life, it's at the main core of #ducklandercalls
How Does Bore Size Affect a Duck Call?

Let's talk about the bore size in a duck call insert and why it is so important. First off the bore size lets the sound that was built into the insert out. Its second and most important job is then to create some back pressure.

Our Heritage as Waterfowlers

One of my most favorite items I own is an old Savage shotgun with a cracked stock. This old gun has a story. It was my grandpa's shotgun. He cracked the stock on the front porch of his house with a celebratory shot on a New Years Eve night. I wish I knew what year that happened, but I was too young to remember when my dad told me that story.
